About me

I had the good fortune of starting my formal art education at Cass Technical High School in Detroit where I majored in Communication Arts. The wonderful foundational years there lead to a scholarship to the Columbus College of Art and Design where I majored in Advertising with a minor in Illustration.

After graduating, I landed a job in healthcare advertising and something I thought would be a short stint turned into a 40-year career. Over that time, I held many titles, ranging from Designer/Illustrator to Creative Director. I picked up some awards, worked with some incredible people, and mastered the art of keeping a straight face when ending a presentation and having clients ask, “So... what else do you have?”

Several years ago I had the opportunity to step away and rekindle something that had fallen to the wayside while dealing with late night layout changes. The joy of creating art for myself. Since then, I’ve mostly focused on life drawing—capturing the beauty we all share, as well as what makes each of us unique.

I’ve shown work at the Society of Illustrators in New York, and around Chicago at the Bridgeport Art Center, Evanston Arts Center, the Palette and Chisel, and the Oak Park Art League.
